The Wimble is Wimbledon’s new local newspaper, delivered via email

Join our fast-growing community of over 6,000 local readers by entering your email below. Every week, you will receive a newsletter packed with recommendations for local things to do, interviews with fascinating local people, a roundup of important Wimbledon news stories.

The Wimble is for people who want to discover more about their local area without annoying ads or “click bait” headlines. We believe in local communities and we believe in Wimbledon. Our goal is to work with and for the people and businesses of Wimbledon to inform and share all Wimbledon has to offer.

“So grateful for this newsletter, creates such a sense of community. Thanks for doing it!” — Wimble reader Cecilia

We’ve discovered local speakeasies, profiled Wimbledon’s best new bar and restaurant openings, written about the spate of new local gyms, visited the area’s nicest co-working space and even checked out Wimbledon’s innovative rooftop farm.

Via The Wimble, you will meet some of the area’s most interesting people, including the tennis coach from Ukraine behind a great new Oyster bar and the local author who had her life changed by Oprah.

“Really love these emails! Great to be kept up to date with Wimbledon goings on” — Wimble reader Polly

How it works

Everything we publish is freely available to everyone. Just subscribe and if you love it please share. Every edition is written by Zak, the man behind The Wimble (more details below)

We may selectively advertise, but only with relevant local partners that are relevant for you. Think back to those local newspapers of bygone years rather than the online pop-ups of today!

We are supported by the Wimbledon Quarter, a new neighbourhood centre in the heart of Wimbledon. The new Quarter is designed to be a meeting place in the heart of the town centre with spaces for all to shop, work, eat, train and more!

We are also partnering with the Mill Media who already run successful local media publications in Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield and Birmingham (we’re using their invaluable experience in how local journalism should work).

We will be running an annual print edition over the Summer during the tennis alongside our weekly online publications.

The Wimble’s writer

Hello there! Zak here. I’m the writer at The Wimble. You’ll probably see me running around Wimbledon in a frantic sweat with a pad and pen in my hands. Do get in touch with me if you have ideas, advice, recommendations you think are of interest, or for a story you think we should cover.

A brief bit of history: I’ve been a freelance journalist for many years and have worked for The Times, The Spectator, and The New Statesman. I’ve also written a few plays, directed a handful of shows, and written short fiction. Drop me a line.
